Privacy policy

Traces has no account, no ads and no analytics. The cases and snapshots ship with the app and play in airplane mode: your progress stays on your device.

1. Your progress

Opened cases, pinned documents, pulled threads, hints used, verdicts, seals and times are stored only on your device. So are your snapshot scores and streak. The developer has no access to them. “Erase my data”, in About, resets the cases; snapshot scores stay on the device until the app is deleted.

2. No data about real people

Traces only contains made-up characters and runs no search, on the internet or anywhere else. The photos in the cases are illustrations shipped with the app; their metadata is fictional.

3. No permissions

The app doesn't ask for access to your photos, your location, your contacts or the microphone. It sends no notifications.

4. Network and Game Center

The cases open no link to the real Internet. If you're signed in to Game Center, only your achievements are sent there (under Apple's policy); there are no leaderboards. The “Contact support” button opens support.lacobble.dev in Safari. The daily snapshot is picked from the device's date, with no server.

5. Sharing

Report cards and the daily snapshot score only leave your device if you share them yourself, through the iOS share sheet. They contain no verdict, and no snapshot place or time.

6. Widget and shortcuts

The “Pinned card” widget shows a summary of the case in progress (title, number of threads), shared between the app and the widget on the device. Siri shortcuts simply open the app.

7. App Store listing

The app's privacy manifest declares no collected data and no tracking. No data leaves your device on Traces' initiative.

8. This website

This site only turns on Google Analytics after your explicit consent in the cookie banner. Without consent, no analytics is loaded.
